Shared Sensations: Intersections of Color and Connection,
2025
Watercolor and Ink on Paper
Throughout her life, artist Jessie Keating has experienced the world through the vibrant lens of synesthesia, a condition that uniquely blends the senses. For Jessie, the emotions she experiences when interacting with people manifest in color and shapes. This perception extends beyond her experiences, influencing how she interacts with others and how she translates those connections into her artwork.
In this series, "Shared Sensations: Intersections of Color and Connection," Jessie explores the intersections of her synesthetic experiences with human interactions. Each piece is a diaristic account of interacting with one or more other people. The mirror invites viewers to experience the dizziness of multiple interactions at once.
In a world that can feel fragmented and disrupted, Jessie's art invites viewers to celebrate the moments that make life rich and to appreciate the unique way each experiences the world.
